Notes from Coach Michele |
The District meet information is in this PDF. The District meet is in Brentwood, TN. this year hosted by Excel Aquatics on Feb. 20-21. District meet entries are due by Monday Feb. 8th Kicking off the New Year: Today (1/4/10) was our first day back for the younger swimmers and I must say in the two weeks they've been gone, I have had hardly anything to clean up, however, the return of the kids brought the return of the mess and I was picking up suit tags, suit liners, socks, and candy wrapper until 6:30 tonight. How is in that the older kids swam for 2 weeks and I never had to clean up after practice, but now on the first day back it took 30 minutes. Please remind your swimmers to police their area and throw all their trash away. Welcome back intermediate and beginner, congratulations seniors! Looking forward to a heathy, balanced, inspired 2010. How to Register for USA meets: 1. Go to site of hosting swim team. Find link to registration form and print form. |
See you at practice. Remember - give your |
August 03, 2009 I had an interesting thought today and you’ll probably laugh when you hear how it originated… My vision for FAST is much bigger than what we have now. I want a 50 meter by 25 yard indoor pool where we can develop top tier athletes. I want the summer recreation program to build into a feeder program for a competitive program and introduce new swimmers to the sport with scaring them away. I want my parents, swimmers, and coaches to embrace healthy lifestyles and set an example for other people. I want my swimming family to get out in the community and support their sport and overall health. I want FAST to be an advocate to change. |
There are still a few 2009 ARPA District I Championship shirts available. You can support FAST by purchase of a tee for $10.00.

Think FAST!
In October 2008 the city of Florence reduced the FAST travel budget for 2009 (1/1/09-12/31/09) had been cut to $1500 (over $4200 was expended in 2008). The travel budget is used for gas, lodging, and food for coaches to USA meets, Summer meets, the Summer state meet, coaching clinics, and any other required travel. As many of you know a weekend at a swim meet can be expensive. Generally the breakdown is about $100 for a room (if there are two coaches = 2 rooms; if the meet is far away, like Chattanooga, or more than 2 days like South Easterns the hotel is more) $50 - gas $30 - meals. On average a weekend with one night in a hotel costs around $200. Meets closer to home like HSA and MSA don't require a hotel stay.
A goal of $2500 to bring our travel budget for 2009 to $4000 has been set. Please make checks payable to Florence Parks & Recreation. Please remit to Coach Michelle or Charlotte at Royal Avenue office. Your generous support is greatly appreciated.
Recently, a $200 donation in the form of $25.00 gas cards - what a unique idea.
